Sri V D Satheesan
Hon'ble Chief Minister
Samagra Shiksha Keralam (SSK) is the state implementation body for the integrated scheme for school education, working under the General Education Department, Government of Kerala. The programme treats school education as a continuum — from pre-school to the higher secondary stage — and brings access, equity and quality under a single umbrella. Its mandate is aligned with the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, ensuring that every child in the state is enrolled, retained and supported to learn in a safe and inclusive environment.
Through interventions in teacher education, inclusive and gender-equitable classrooms, vocational exposure, technology-enabled learning and community participation, SSK works with schools, local self-government institutions and academic bodies across all fourteen districts. The focus is not only on bringing children to school, but on improving what happens inside the classroom — strengthening foundational learning, supporting teachers with continuous training, and monitoring outcomes so that quality improvement is measurable and sustained.
